Call of Duty Dev Explains Why the Season 1 Reloaded Update Had So Many Problems
One of Call of Duty's development teams explained why the recent Season 1 Reloaded update proved to be so troublesome. After the update's initial release, Call of Duty players widely reported game-breaking bugs that were eventually fixed the next day.
Following the launch of January 17's Season 1 Reloaded, new bugs were introduced toCall of Dutythat saw players unable to progress past the menu screen, and for those that did make it into the game, plenty more new and frustrating bugs awaited them. This led to a significant outcry from the Call of Duty community, as players' excitement for Season 1 Reloaded's new content was quickly dashed. However, Call of Duty released a series of hotfixes over the following 24 hours that fixed most of the update's major issues. Many fans were curious as to what led to the game's most broken state in recent memory, and they may be interested to hear Call of Duty's explanation.
In a post made to Raven Software's Twitter account, the studio explained that «We’ve been laying the groundwork for the return of some fan favorite features in upcoming seasons.» Raven further explained that in preparation for the coming features, it has begun adding parts of these future updates to Call of Duty. The Season 1 Reloaded update shipped with some of that code, which led to a conflict between live player data and Call of Duty servers, which then led to the update's major issues. Raven detailed that it began working on solutions to the new bugs almost immediately, and received help from development teams around the world to release the Call of Duty hotfixes. Raven, which focuses on Call of Duty: Warzone, has teased some interesting features coming to the game soon, which may have been the culprits for the game's recent problems.
