Blizzard Shares Update on World of Warcraft 2024 Roadmap; Cataclysm Classic Beta Delayed & No Patch 10.2.6 PTR

World of Warcraft Executive Producer Holly Longdale has shared an update on the World of Warcraft 2024 roadmap.

Some months ago, Blizzard shared its 2024 roadmap for both World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft Classic. In this roadmap, Longdale revealed what fans can expect from from the franchise in the coming year, including the arrival of patch 10.2.5 Seed of Renewal, Hardcore Realms: Solo Self-found Mode, and the arrival of the Cataclysm Beta. In this roadmap, the team revealed that the Cataclysm beta would release somewhere between the launch of the WoW Classic Season of Discovery and the launch of the Self-Found mode. Looking at the updated roadmap, however, the WoW Classic Hardcore’s Self-Found mode is arriving later this month followed by the Cataclysm Beta. As such, we're looking at a short delay of the beta. "WoW Classic Hardcore’s Self-Found mode is coming in late February, followed shortly after by the Beta for Cataclysm Classic", Longdale writes. "More news on that will be coming soon."

As also explained by the Executive Producer, it appears that there won't be a PTR for the upcoming 10.2.6 patch for Dragonflight. It's not entirely clear, but here's the explanition that Longdale offered for the patch. "For the 10.2.6 patch for Dragonflight, we created what we think is a unique event inspired by past musings from the community", Longdale wrote. "We can say that it is open to anyone with a WoW subscription if they want to participate (Classic or Dragonflight players). That's all we’re going say. Sorry, not sorry? Our goal is to continue to keep it secret— and keep it safe. The speculation is great! We watched the reaction to the surprises in Season of Discovery and thought we’d try a similar, but different, approach for Dragonflight."

She added, "That means there will be no PTR (Public Test Realm) for a portion of the next content update as we have traditionally done.
