Baldur's Gate 3 Modder Just Unlocked The Toolkit, Which Could Lead To Custom Campaigns

With the release of Patch 7, developer Larian Studios released a mod toolkit for the game, allowing players to download and manage mods within the game. But one third-party modmay expand the game's possibilities even further.

Nexus Mods user Siegfre uploaded a new mod that unlocks all the potential features squirreled away in the mod toolkit. With this mod, aptly named Toolkit Unlocked, players will be able to add new maps and campaigns to the game, really opening the possibility for players to build their own campaigns in the CRPG.

The mod's official description says that it «However, the posts about the mod have confirmed that downloading it gives modders a lot of freedom they weren't previously afforded. Though it'll require quite a bit of modding skill to pull off, players who are dedicated to extending the lifespan of and its lovable characters even further have the potential to create some custom campaigns through this mod.

The modding toolkit is a similar engine to the one Larian used for the games, which includes a DM mode for modders to use. Because of that, it didn't take long for modders to realize that the framework for such tools was already available in the kit, thoughthe version released to players with Patch 7 blocked it from being accessed. There's not a clear explanation for this, though many users suspect that Wizards of the Coast had a large hand in this decision.

Larian has already confirmed that it will not release dedicated DLCs for in the future, nor will it be the studio that develops a possible . The modding toolkit is likely to expand the game's already long shelf life, though the exclusion of a DM mode is speculated to be a decision made by Wizards of the Coast to prevent players from having too much control over new content in the game.
