Baldur's Gate 3 Is Going To Get Even Better On PS5 & Xbox

If wasn't great enough already, developer Larian Studios is going the extra mile by working on a modding system that should make tweaking the experience even easier than before. While there's already a healthy modding community available for players to explore on PC, the console versions of the game haven't quite had the same kind of attention. That's set to change with an upcoming update that should allow even more players to mod the Forgotten Realms to their heart's content.

As confirmed by Larian Studios' Director of Publishing Michael Douse on X (formerly Twitter), the team is developing a system that will allow players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S to experience the wealth of mods in already available to the PC version of the game. Described as a "robust, cross-platform plan for mod support," players can expect it to arrive later in 2024, although a specific release date has yet to be confirmed.

Douse further explained that Larian Studios is working hand-in-hand with members of the modding community to deliver a system that caters to everyone. «We have a system but it needs to be tested and still requires work. We’re excited about it. I understand that it suck’s [sic] when the game is updated and mods break. Our community teams will starttalking with and looping in the modding community,» Douse wrote.

The addition of full cross-platform mod support for should come as a pleasant surprise for console players, especially given that the game already boasts a treasure trove of mods. Popular mods include extra options for character customization, additional carry weight limits, extra spells pulled directly from and even AI to control the various party members in combat. Of course, there are also plenty of sillier mods, like the starting background «Was a Goat for 10 Years.»
