One Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Mini-Game Might Get Its Own Expansion

While may currently be devouring players' lives with its excellent reimagining of the classic story, one mini-game is proving so captivating that even Square Enix can envision making it even bigger. One of the major positives about the latest entry in the so-called «Remake Trilogy» is the addition of several carefully designed mini-games that both flesh out the world and prove to be a hoot in their own right. There's a good variety on offer but none has gained a following quite like the card game Queen's Blood.

Speaking to Red Bull, game director Naoki Hamaguchi explained that the creative team was incredibly pleased to see so many people enjoying Queen's Blood, a lane-driven card game that sees players building decks of 15 cards and battling for ownership of the board. Hamaguchi explained that, at launch, contains 145 different Queen's Blood cards for players to collect but that number might increase in the future thanks to how well it's been received by the community. The director tapers expectations for an update by stating that Square Enix has yet to look into adding more cards to the game but ""

It may originally seem strange to expand on such a small part of a massive game like but the opportunity to grow Queen's Blood is quite obvious. Aside from the easy answer of simply adding more cards to the game, Square Enix could simply spin it off as a separate entity and treat it like a liver-service game in the same vein as or. That's what happened with; the success of the Gwent mini-game prompted CD Projekt Red to turn it into its own game, a decision that proved popular among fans.

Square Enix has yet to confirm whether it has any DLC plans for but based on the franchise's previous game, a story expansion could be in the works. A year after the release of, the studio dropped, a version of the game created for current-gen hardware that also sported the story expansion starring Yuffie Kisaragi.
