AMD Goes All In On AI Branding, Strix Point APUs First To Adopt New “Ryzen AI HX” Naming Similar To Intel’s Core Ultra

AMD has adopted a brand new "Ryzen AI HX" naming scheme for its upcoming Strix Point APUs which sounds very familiar to Intel's Core Ultra.

AMD Comes Up With A Brand New Naming Scheme Starting With Its Strix Point APUs For The AI PC Era, Ryzen AI HX From Now Onwards

Back in September 2022, AMD unveiled its brand new naming scheme for its Ryzen Mobile CPUs. The new naming scheme was first adopted by the Ryzen 7040 "Phoenix" APUs and later used with the Ryzen 8040 "Hawk Point" chips. The family also included a range of refreshed and rebranded SKUs from previous families such as Rembrandt, Cezanne and entry-level SKUs like Mendocino. It looks like the company is changing its naming convention once again after just two new releases.

The chip has a clock speed of up to 5.1 GHz, up to 77 AI TOPS (45 XDNA TOPS), and 36 MB of cache.

ASUS is preparing a range of AMD Ryzen "Strix Point" APU-powered laptops under its ROG, TUF, ProArt, & VivoBook series. What is interesting with this naming convention is that the "HX" series was previously only used for the higher-end desktop dies which were repurposed for the mobile market but it looks like moving forward, the "HX" naming scheme will be standardized across a large range of chips. The numeric naming convention also includes three numbers which is also similar to Intel's Core Ultra chips.

Coming to the details of the laptop itself, it features an integrated AMD RDNA 3 iGPU marked as the
