50 Artists Create Amazing Tribute to Dragon Ball Creator Akira Toriyama

Nearly 50 talented artists recently joined together to create an amazing mural in tribute to the late Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. Earlier this month, fans of anime and gaming alike were saddened by the heartbreaking news that Toriyama had passed away from acute subdural hematoma at age 68. Dragon Ball itself has spawned countless video games, but Akira Toriyama also had a hand in creating legendary titles like Chrono Trigger and the Dragon Quest series, and numerous other franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog have drawn influence from his work.

In the weeks since Akira Toriyama’s passing, fans all around the world have shared their condolences and paid tribute to the beloved artist and writer. Yasushi Yamaguchi, character designer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, honored Toriyama by sharing stories of how Dragon Ball influenced the relationships between Sonic and his friends. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy 14 players held in-game vigils for Toriyama, and fans of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 held their own memorial for the creator who inspired so many anime and video game stories.

Now Dragon Ball fans in Peru have come together to create their own homage to the legendary Akira Toriyama in the form of a massive mural, as reported by Sportskeeda. Over 45 artists worked on this commemorative painting, which is 110 meters long and 6 meters high and features a black-and-white portrait of Toriyama surrounded by over 70 different Dragon Ball characters including Goku, Piccolo, Gohan, Vegeta, and countless others. Images and footage of the mural are being shared on social media outlets like Twitter and Instagram, with commenters giving thanks to Toriyama and everything that he created.

Akira Toriyama's legacy is still being carried on through various projects inspired by his work.
