As X-Men ‘97 continues its inspired run, the animated project’s ousted showrunner continues to give fans insight into his creative process concerning the show, coming in full force with big reveals for the most recent eighth episode.

X-Men ‘97 has taken fans by storm, reviving the much-beloved X-Men: The Animated Series from the 90s and getting its name from the year its predecessor was canceled. Despite some initial misgivings amongst fans about yet another rethreading of a beloved IP, X-Men ‘97 debuted to an impressive reception, with many fans praising the creative team spearheaded by showrunner Beau DeMayo for their dedication to creating a faithful successor. With all this early success, fans were surprised to learn that DeMayo was fired from X-Men ‘97 with only speculative reports as to why he was let go.

DeMayo would break his silence after X-Men ‘97’s fifth episode, and he’s been giving fans a lot to think about since.
