Weird Palworld Glitch Actually Does Copy Pokémon (Accidentally)

Although has drawn attention for its apparent similarities to, one of the most striking similarities to date is more of an accident than anything else. is still in early access, but the amount of content already included clearly represents the makings of a solid game in its own right. Already a success on PC and Xbox, there have even been rumors that could come to other consoles as well, although there have been no such official announcements yet.

At its core, is a game about capturing a wide variety of cute creatures with elemental abilities, and then raising and battling alongside them against increasingly powerful opponents. As such, accusations of being a rip-off of were quick to surface, especially with so many Pals having visibly similar Pokémon counterparts. However, Palworld is not the only monster-taming game to have followed in the genre-defining ’s footsteps. Moreover, with its survival gameplay elements, including base building and player characters taking part in combat, it is clear that is more than simply plagiarized content.

There are many points of comparison between and , including the latter seemingly having its own version of Mewtwo hidden in its code. However, one notable glitch also brings its own point of similarity to bear between the two. As demonstrated by user HarukoTheDragon, it is possible for a Pal to change colors. To be more specific, it appears that one of HarukoTheDragons’s Foxparks has become permanently discolored, with it being noticeably paler than the Pal’s usual appearance. This, of course, mimics the appearance of Shiny Pokémon, with the glitch’s uncommon nature even mirroring the rarity of Shinies.

This ‘Shiny’ Pal glitch is believed to be related to how a Pal’s appearance changes in water, with a bug causing its dampened appearance to become fixed, rather than the Pal drying off and returning to normal.
