WayForward is turning Halloween and Ash vs Evil Dead into 16-bit style platformers

The second of two Halloween video games has been revealed, alongside a new game based on the Evil Dead IP.

On Monday it was announced that Boss Team Games – which was most recently responsible for Evil Dead: The Game – is working on two video games based on the 1978 movie Halloween.

Monday’s announcement also revealed that one of these games would be developed in Unreal Engine 5 and would have input from the original movie’s director John Carpenter.

However, an Amazon listing posted earlier today revealed the other game, along with one based on the TV series Ash vs Evil Dead.

As has now been reported on IGN, the two games will form a new series of retro-themed licensed games called RetroRealms, which will be developed by Boss Team Games and WayForward.

RetroRealms: Halloween and RetroRealms: Ash vs Evil Dead are action platform games created in a 16- bit style.

Each game will cost $24.99 digitally, or can be purchased physically as a two-in-one release for $49.99.

Boss Team Games says that if players buy both games, it will give them access to new features, enabling them to play as Michael Myers or Ash in each other’s worlds.

“Everyone at Boss Team Games are huge fans of horror, and getting to work with these legendary properties is a dream come true,” said Boss Team Games CEO in a statement.

“It has been an amazing experience collaborating with WayForward, and our licensors to create not one, but two, fast-paced 90’s arcade style games while remaining true to the original Halloween film and Ash vs Evil Dead series.”
