Upcoming Splinter Cell RTX Remix Mod Receives New Gameplay Video

A new gameplay video for an upcoming Splinter Cell RTX Remix mod has been released, showing off path tracing.

While we wait for Ubisoft's Splinter Cell Remake, modder 'skurtyyskirts' is working on an NVIDIA RTX remix mod path tracing mod for the original Splinter Cell. Last month, the modder released the first video showing off this WIP mod, and today we wanted to share a new gameplay video (via DSOGaming). As this mod is still in active development, there are some issues with culling, but it has to be said that the initial results look impressive. Check out the new WIP gameplay video below:

Initially released for the original Xbox in 2002 as a Metal Gear Solid killer, Splinter Cell featured amazing lighting effects at that time. As said, Ubisoft is now working on a remake of the game, which is being spearheaded by Far Cry 6's Lead Game Designer. The remake will offer a rewritten and updated story for a modern-day audience, according to Ubisoft.

The Splinter Cell Remake is slated for a release on PC and consoles, but has yet to receive a release date.

We've included some information about the original Splinter Cell from the game's initial press release below:

You are Sam Fisher. A lone shadow-operative in a world where lost seconds can allow terrorist plans to become deadly reality. You operate in the heart of hostile territory. Sent to execute desperate missions, you're the last resort of your government. Should you be captured or killed, all knowledge of your existence will be denied. You are a Splinter Cell.

When two CIA agents mysteriously vanish in the former Soviet republic of Georgia, the NSA's secret sub agency, Third Echelon, deploys Sam Fisher-its most capable splinter cell operative-to recover them. Fisher soon uncovers a deeper conspiracy: a plot that threatens to destabilize the world order and spark nuclear conflict.
