Until Dawn Is Being Adapted into a Movie; Annabelle 2: Creation Director and Writer Attached

It's been nearly a decade since Supermassive Games released Until Dawn as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. The British studio has since moved on to other franchises, chiefly their The Dark Pictures horror anthology. Before the release of Man of Medan, Supermassive CEO and Executive Producer Pete Samuels commented on the many requests for Until Dawn 2:

After Until Dawn, many started to request a sequel, and it still happens today, so we know there is a fanbase that likes this kind of thing. If we were making sequels, we don’t know who survived. We also learned that David F. Sandberg is set to direct the Until Dawn film, with Gary Dauberman attached to re-write the script based on a previous work by Blair Butler. The two worked together on the horror movie Annabelle 2: Creation. Dauberman is also known for his work on It and The Nun, whereas Sandberg recently directed the two Shazam! movies.

There are not many details on the movie itself, though THR said it would be R-rated with an ensemble cast. The game already features a rather impressive cast: Academy Award winner Rami Malek, Peter Stormare, Hayden Panettiere, and Brett Dalton, among others.

Until Dawn is only the latest in a long series of projects handled by PlayStation Productions as Sony
