Underrated Wii Exclusive is Getting a Switch Remake

A remake of the original Wii exclusive, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed will be available on Switch later this year. Fans have been hoping for a revival of the Epic Mickey game franchise, and this surprise announcement during today's Nintendo Direct has already got audiences buzzing.

First released in 2010, Disney Epic Mickey is a 3D platformer featuring a unique paintbrush mechanic. Players can control the iconic Disney mascot, Mickey Mouse, and utilize both paint and paint thinner to alter the environment around them and traverse through a curious world. This fantastical experience will be returning later this year in a remade, or «Rebrushed,» version of the game on Nintendo Switch.

Announced during today's Nintendo direct, a remaster of the classic Wii Mickey Mouse platformer will be coming to Switch this year, titled Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed. The trailer shows the eponymous mascot falling into a mirror and entering a mysterious realm filled with forgotten characters. Players must help Mickey to platform and paint his way out of the magical dimension, as they become an epic hero. Featured gameplay shows classic 3D platforming mechanics, along with a unique paint brush ability. In spite of a somewhat lackluster Epic Mickey sequel, audiences have remained supportive of the imaginative franchise. Fans have already begun celebrating this reveal on social media, with many shocked to see the beloved Wii game getting a full remake.
