FromSoftware has finally started ramping up its Elden Ring expansion pack hype train with less than a month to go until Shadow of the Erdtree's release. Hot on the heels of Tuesday's pre-rendered story trailer, FromSoft has shared promo art of a new NPC, and I think we already know exactly who they are.
The rich world of has inspired many great cosplays over the years, and one new creation is a particularly impressive addition to that legacy. Eight years after the release of, it's comforting to see how passionate its community still is, even if developer FromSoftware may never return to the series. Its spirit certainly lives on through other FromSoftware games released since, and the impending release of the DLC has a lot of people thinking about the studio's iconic titles again.
Exactly a month ahead of the launch of 's DLC, the expansion received a story trailer. Perhaps unsurprisingly, and in spite of the trailer's title, the story trailer's details are incredibly cryptic. At face value, it essentially reinforces what was already known about the expansion, which will take players on a brand-new, apparently quite extensive, journey to a place called the Land of Shadow. Despite the trailer failing to be forthcoming, there are some interesting insights able to be gleaned.
A now-deleted post on the Elden Ring subreddit states it plainly: «MARIKA MADE THE ERDTREE FROM A MOUNTAIN OF CORPSES …» The other half of the title is a Berserk spoiler and the reason the thread was taken down, but Reddit user ILBOI_X isn't alone in this theory. Everyone is pointing at the pillars of bodies in the new Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree story trailer and calling it a tree.
