Today’s Nintendo Direct Will Be “Light” on First-Party Games, Leaker Says; Says Fans Should Manage Expectations

Today's Nintendo Direct will be "light" on first-party titles, but it might very well contain some surprise announcements.

Yesterday, Nintendo announced a new Direct episode for later today, and fans have been speculating about the broadcast's contents. Will we finally see more from Metroid Prime 4, and what about the long-rumored The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Twilight Princess Switch ports? Well, according to reputable Nintendo leaker 'Pyoro', fans might do well to manage their expectations. In addition, the leaker said that, while he does expect some surprises, Nintendo won't be showing a lot of first-party games. "It will be light on 1st party stuff but I expect some surprises", the leaker wrote on X when asked about Nintendo's own titles.

In a more recent post on X, 'Pyoro' posted a rather cryptic set of emoticons before adding "Summer is here". Following these posts, plenty of fans seem to believe that Nintendo will be announcing either a new Mario & Sonic title during the show or possibly a new Tomodachi Life.

Unfortunately, no further details were shared by the leaker, and we'll just have to wait until later today to learn what Nintendo has up its sleeve for the back half of this year. As again pointed out by Nintendo, the broadcast won't touch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch successor.

What are your expectations from today's Direct episode? Will we finally be seeing more from the new Metroid? Possibly the new rumored 2D Zelda entry? And what about the rumors about a new Star Fox? Hit the comments below.

Today's Nintendo Direct will air at 10 am ET. We'll update you as soon as more information about the Direct comes in. Of course, we'll be covering the broadcast once it airs.
