This New Dialogue Change In BG3 Is Great For Astarion Fans

The newest patch update for brings a lot of small changes to the dialogue and cinematic moments, but one tiny detail is particularly pleasing to Astarion fans. The fan-favorite vampire companion Astarion has some of the best quotes, one-liners, and moments in the game, especially regarding other party members. This time around, something recently added around the end of the game involves what the companions have to say about him instead.

Being a popular character among fans, Astarion is also regarded as an interesting personality by the other companion characters. The most unique thing about him is that he is a vampire spawn, his main motivation being getting revenge on his master, Cazador. For the majority of the game, he is able to be in the sunlight due to being infected with the Mind Flayer parasite. This is a detail the game recognizes and uses later on in the story, which has been improved in the recent patch.

After defeating the Netherbrain at the end of Act 3, Astarion will flee upon burning in the sunrise's light. This is a saddening moment, and in previous versions of the game, the reactions from fellow companions were very dismissive and indifferent to the vampire spawn. In Patch 7, the dialogue was changed so that the party members now better acknowledge Astarion and respect his situation. The new reactions imply the growth of the characters as a traveling group, having emotional connections to each other due to the long journey they have through.
