The year 2024 for the games industry has been marked by events such as layoffs, Gearbox Software's acquisition by Take-Two Interactive, and the farewell to Nintendo 3DS and Wii U online services. Meanwhile, new releases like Palworld and Helldivers 2 hit the shelves, sharing space with popular releases like Fortnite and Valorant.

Palworld took the world by storm by showing a different spin on the monster-collecting game genre, quickly becoming a hit on Steam. Helldivers 2 became a new favorite among shooter fans, placing players on the Galaxy's last offensive line. Another title highly anticipated by gamers was Dragon's Dogma 2, which, 12 years after the release of its predecessor, brings a new fantasy world to explore. With so many games to play, a new report revealed which ones pushed sales at the start of the year.

Newzoo has released a new report revealing the top-grossing games in the first quarter of 2024 on PC and consoles, and Fortnite has landed at the top of the list. In second place is EA Sports FC 24, the first game since the end of the partnership between EA and FIFA. Helldivers 2 is a big success, and Arrowhead Game Studios' shooter confirmed its popularity by taking third place.
