The Nocturnal Vapor Xbox Series X/S controller has been officially announced

Microsoft has officially revealed the latest Xbox Series X/S controller colour.

Confirming a recent leak, the Nocturnal Vapor Special Edition wireless controller is available to pre-order today for $69.99 / £64.99, ahead of its launch on April 9.

According to Microsoft, it features a “dynamic and unique light and dark green colour swirl” plus rubberised, green diamond-pattern grips.

The Vapor series of Xbox controllers also includes the previously released Stormcloud Vapor and Dream Vapor pads. Microsoft launched custom Vapor controllers via Xbox Design Lab in January too.

The Arctic Camo Special Edition Xbox Series X/S wireless controller was released worldwide last week. An updated version of the Arctic Camo Special Edition Xbox One controller, it originally launched in the US last May.

While Microsoft’s plans may have changed, an Xbox controller codenamed Sebile leaked last September via unredacted court documents published accidently, including one titled ‘Roadmap to 2030’.

It included information on Microsoft’s mid-generation console refresh, which said an ”adorably all digital” Xbox Series X console codenamed ‘Brooklin’ would come with an “all-new, more immersive controller”.

The next evolution of the Xbox controller would feature improved haptic feedback, an accelerometer, and a rechargeable and replaceable battery, according to the leak.
