The Lord of the Rings Corsairs of Umbar Expandion and Mariner Class Are Now Available for Points

If you’ve been waiting to check out the Corsairs of Umbar expansion and the Mariner class in The Lord of the Rings Online, both are now available for points from the LOTRO store.

After a delay, the Standing Stone Games team released the most recent expansion back in November, opening up a new zone that had never been depicted in any adaptations of Tolkein’s work as of yet. The newly added regions include Umbar, Western King’s Gondor, Outer Gondor, and The Shield Isles.

In the expansion, You can explore the new regions, take on several hundred new quests, and investigate the danger that is casting its shadow over Umbar, the City of the Corsairs. The expansion also raises the level cap to 150 and adds the brand new Mariner class.

The Mariner is inspired by the legendary Eärendil, and can play various types of roles depending on your skills and playstyle. You can choose from three different specs. Shanty-caller acts as a support specialist and helps maximize group damage output. Duellist helps maximize your own damage output, and is suitable for those who want to focus on DPS and melee combat. The Rover is another group support spec, where the focus is on controls and debuffs for enemies and aid for allies. We interviewed Executive Producer Rob Ciccolini last fall on the creation of the class, and the idea of the class came first, with a sea feel and sea shanties in mind, and then figured out how to build around that.

If you’ve been waiting on the expansion and/or the Mariner, they’re now available for those who want to spend points on them. The expansion will cost you 2,995 LOTRO points, while the Mariner can be yours for 1,000.
