The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest will get offline modes, Ubisoft confirms

Ubisoft has announced plans to launch offline modes for The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest.

As part of a Crew Motorfest showcase on Tuesday, developer Ivory Tower acknowledged consumer complaints over the handling of The Crew, which was delisted last year and taken offline in April, making it unplayable.

“We want to acknowledge that some of you voiced concern about the access to The Crew games,” said Stéphane Beley, senior creative director of the franchise at Ivory Tower.

“Today, we want to express our commitment to the future of The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest. We are currently exploring different solutions, and can confirm an offline mode to ensure long-term access to both titles.”

Ubisoft explained its decision to take The Crew offline in a statement issued to VGC last year.

“After almost a decade of support, we will be decommissioning The Crew 1 on March 31, 2024,” it said. “We understand this may be disappointing for players still enjoying the game, but it is necessary due to upcoming server infrastructure and licensing constraints.

“Our goal remains to provide the best action driving gameplay experience for players and to deliver on it, we are continuing to provide new content and support for The Crew 2 and the recently launched The Crew Motorfest. We thank everyone who played The Crew 1 and contributed to building this great community that lives on with The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest.”

Today’s The Crew Motorfest showcase also provided an overview of the game’s Season 5 update, which kicks off the title’s second year of content updates in November with the introduction of the island of Maui.
