Tekken 8 – What’s The Best Rollback Setting?

Like every modern fighting game, Tekken 8 comes with an online mode that allows players to put their skills to the test against other players. Powered by rollback netcode, like other games such as Street Fighter 6 and Guilty Gear Strive, the new entry in the series provides a slightly more customizable online experience, offering players three different rollback settings. Only one of them, however, is the one to choose for the smoothest gameplay in ranked and quick matches.

By default, Tekken 8 utilizes the Standard rollback setting, which balances both fluidity and responsiveness. The Standard setting, however, is far from being the best, as it often leads to online matches with high delay and rollback frames, especially if the connection between the two players isn't optimal.

To change the rollback settings, all you need to do is access the Options menu from the main menu and then the Game Options setting. Inside this menu, you will find the rollback settings near the bottom of the options list. Press to the left to change the rollback setting to Prioritize Fluidity or to the right to change it to Prioritize Response.

While the Prioritize Fluidity option results in a more pleasing visual experience with smoother animations, responsiveness is extremely important in a fighting game like Tekken 8, so you will want to pick the Prioritize Response option. While this option cannot fix shaky connections or Wi-Fi connections, it makes online matches as responsive as possible and ultimately more enjoyable.
