Starfield’s Shattered Space expansion launches alongside a new title update

Bethesda has launched Starfield’s first expansion, Shattered Space.

Available for Xbox Series X/S and PC, the story DLC is included with the Premium and Constellation Editions of the sci-fi RPG.

It’s also available to purchase separately for $29.99 / £29.99, with a $3 / £3 discount for Game Pass Ultimate members.

Shattered Space sees players “embark on a journey to the handcrafted home world of House Va’ruun and unravel the mysteries surrounding the elusive followers of the Great Serpent,” according to Bethesda.

In terms of scope, Starfield game director Todd Howard has likened Shattered Space to Fallout 4’s Far Harbor expansion.

To start playing the expansion, users have to complete the introductory mission of the main quest, One Small Step. While players of any level can play the DLC, Bethesda recommends reaching level 35 for the best experience.

The Shattered Space launch trailer is viewable below.

The DLC has arrived alongside the game’s latest update, version 1.14.70, which is detailed here.

Howard has said Bethesda hopes to release Starfield story expansions on an annual basis.

In a recent interview, he also said he tends to cut very little from the Bethesda’s titles, “which is why the games are so irresponsibly large”.
