Starfield Player Discovers Easy Exploit For Fast Travel

may boast about its thousands of planets that players can explore to their hearts' content, but when it comes to speedily zipping across the surface, one fan may have discovered the most efficient maneuver yet. One of the most common complaints leveled at Bethesda's sprawling sci-fi RPG is that traversal can be somewhat tedious, especially when landing upon a planet that's largely devoid of life or points of interest. Fortunately, as the community waits for the land vehicle update, an alternative means of travel has been discovered thanks to a fun exploit.

Posted to Reddit by user -Captain-, the player showcases how they manage to cross large bodies of water with a staggering amount of speed: An exploit that, with the right timing, allows them to "" across the surface.

It looks tricky but with enough practice, it's possible to discharge one's booster pack just before the swimming animation begins, prompting the character model to fly forward without losing its velocity. While this method is obviously only useful when it comes to bodies of water, it still makes crossing lakes much faster than the painfully slow default swimming speed.

The Starfield ship updates are bringing a ton of new features, including custom decorations, but one highly overlooked item should get more attention.

Another aspect of the exploit that users will need to take into account is that it's only really possible with a mouse and keyboard, meaning those playing on the Xbox Series X|S won't be able to pull it off. -Captain- explained that to pull off the maneuver they needed to assign the jump function to an extra button so that they could move forward while also using the jetpack. Doing so with a controller would not be possible given the limited amount of inputs available to those who use a gamepad.

While the use of an exploit to speed up land traversal isn't exactly ideal, the community has been forced to resort to whatever methods they can to speed up the laborious task of exploration.
