Starfield Mod Puts Halo's Master Chief Armor in the Game

Players of Bethesda's Starfield can now experience the game as the iconic Spartan super soldiers from the Halo universe, including series protagonist Master Chief, thanks to a new mod. It is just one of many mods players have created to enhance their enjoyment of the spacefaring RPG.

Much like with Bethesda's past games, a solid modding community has formed around Starfield since the title was released last September. There are currently more than 6,000 entries for the sci-fi game on Nexus Mods, the internet's biggest mod repository, with a lot of these mods delivering fixes for Starfield's issues or providing player-requested quality-of-life improvements. There are also mods that add new content to Starfield, like a recent release that brought some armor sets from the Halo franchise to Bethesda's RPG.

The Halo Spartan Armor Collection uploaded by Nexus Mods user Bonepunk adds Mark V, Mark VI, and Mark VII Mjolnir armor cores to Starfield. For context, beloved Halo protagonist Master Chief donned variants of the Mark V and Mark VI Mjolnir armors in the games. The individual armor parts that Bonepunk's mod adds, which are available in various colors and patterns, can be mixed and matched to create custom sets. However, the release is still a work in progress, and users have been warned that clipping might occur if armor pieces from different cores are paired together.

Considering its popularity in the gaming industry, it should come as no surprise that modders have long been trying to insert content from Halo into other games, even those that bear no surface-level similarities with Microsoft's flagship franchise. FromSoftware's original Dark Souls received an impressive Halo mod that turned the normally melee-focused dark fantasy RPG into a shooter. Starfield's spiritual predecessor, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, also has a mod that was heavily inspired by Halo.

Bethesda's latest title already offers a diverse selection of mods despite only being released in September.
