Starfield Finally Fixes Its Most Broken New Feature, But It's Not Enough

's latest hotfix resolves a major issue, but players still aren't totally satisfied. It's no secret that has its fair share of issues, whether they're related to bugs, boredom, or baffling design choices. It finally got its first major patch, update 1.10.31, earlier this March — but that didn't solve all its problems. Between questionable new features and a whole host of unresolved issues, the update didn't quite meet expectations.

And it may have even created more problems than it was worth. One of 's newest features actually made things worse, introducing a new bug that made it impossible to use. Bethesda may have been quick to respond with a hotfix, but even that is far from a perfect solution.

As Reddit user WealthFeisty7968 noted after the new feature's launch, 's photo mode was well and truly broken. Many modern RPGs that pride themselves on their graphics include a photo mode; it's a useful way for players to capture scenic, in-game vistas, or memorialize heroic moments. The problem with 's, though, was that animations would continue playing after photo mode was opened. Say the player tried to capture themselves mid-Painblade swipe, quickly mashing the photo mode button as their weapon swing reached its apex. However, once they opened the menu, their character would complete the swing, totally ruining the moment.

Players can quickly open photo mode in by pressing F + V on a keyboard, or LB + RS on a controller.

But it's not like 's photo mode was only meant to capture static scenes. This was a bug created by the new update. Many players in the comments of the original Reddit post claimed to have experienced the same issue, and promised to send Bethesda a bug report explaining the issue. To its credit, Bethesda was quick to respond: just a week after the initial update, it announced a hotfix on X (formerly Twitter) that would resolve 's photo mode issues.
