Stardew Valley: Should You Buy A JojaMart Membership Or Fix The Community Center?

has two options for general progression through the game: the Community Center and JojaMart. While the game’s story is mostly dependent on the player’s choice of activity and their romance options in , both the Community Center and JojaMart have thematic connections to the overall plot and the background lore.

Think of the Community Center and JojaMart as two opposing factions in an RPG. They're mutually exclusive, and offer similar rewards for different tasks. While it’s not strictly necessary to join either one, doing so can enrich the experience in a unique way. Both provide long-term goals and milestones for players to track as they grow their farms and develop their professions in . It’s an important choice that most players make rather early on, and neither side is without its consequences.

JojaMart is affiliated with the Joja Corporation, a huge megacorp that seems to have its fingers in every manner of pie. In fact, the opening scenes of reveal that the player character themselves was once a Joja employee, but left corporate life behind in order to take over their grandfather’s farm.

Beginning the JojaMart quest line is as simple as visiting the store, a large blue structure with an unmistakable sign, south of the mine and east of the residential part of town on the map, after the Community Center has been unlocked. Once there, players will need to speak with Morris, the store’s manager, who can easily be recognized by his large red bow tie. Morris will offer to sell them a membership for 5,000g, and if the player agrees, they’re locked into the JojaMart faction.

Buying a JojaMart membership will immediately cause the Community Center to shut down, and a Joja warehouse to be opened in its place. Players must make absolutely certain they want to pursue the JojaMart path before buying a membership.
