Stardew Valley Player's Wholesome Act Of Kindness For Linus Deserves A Canon Place In-Game

One player's thoughtful gift to Linus deserves to be made canon. Linus is one of 's more unusual characters. Homeless by choice, he lives in a tent west of the mines, where he forages and Dumpster dives for his daily sustenance. Although he's not one of the game's marriageable bachelors and bachelorettes, the player can forge a relationship with Linus if they so choose. That said, his storyline isn't as involved as some of the romanceable characters'. Most of his heart events simply involve him sending the player recipes in the mail.

For the most part, that's fine — players can still forge a decent relationship with Linus by sharing some of their forage, or baking him a pie. He rejects grander gestures by nature, insisting he's happy just as he stands. Still, some players take it upon themselves to help Linus in bigger, more lasting ways, without disrupting his lifestyle or passing judgment. There's just nothing in 's programming that allows Linus to acknowledge them either way. But a player's latest act of kindness demonstrates why Linus' storyline needs a little more fleshing out.

There's an easy feature for farm animal players they may have been overlooking for years in Stardew Valley, and it's not even part of the 1.6 update.

Reddit user FrostCA11 has sparked widespread discussion about Linus’ character and storyline in simply by bringing him a heater. This is the same radiator used by the farmer to keep their barns warm and cozy in winter, but like most furniture, it can apparently be placed anywhere in the world. Linus doesn't acknowledge the heater's presence, but players in the comments explain that, upon entering his tent in the winter, they saw the heater on and rattling.

Heaters in can be purchased from Marnie, and cost 2,000g. Placing one inside a barn increases the happiness level of all the animals inside, which in turn increases their likelihood of spawning high-quality products.

Among 's cast of characters, Linus’ storyline is pretty barebones.
