Stardew Valley Player Points Out Helpful Change to Skull Cavern

Players have been enjoying the big Stardew Valley Update 1.6 and all of its new content, with one fan discovering a major change to rare loot chests and special floors in Skull Cavern. Update 1.6 for Stardew Valley is the biggest patch to date for the indie game, and fans have been jumping in to experience the fresh content and numerous quality-of-life improvements.

First released in 2016, Stardew Valley is a life-sim game with farming, fishing, mining, and crafting gameplay. The beloved title has become one of the most successful indie games of all time, largely due to its consistent bug fixes and content additions from developer Eric «ConcernedApe» Barone. As fans continue to play through Update 1.6, one player shares a helpful change they found in Skull Cavern.

Stardew Valley player floppa_for_president revealed a unique change to Skull Cavern for Update 1.6, where every 100th floor contains new loot chests on a special floor. They made the discovery while returning to Stardew Valley's Skull Cavern to try and grind for valuable items. Prior to Update 1.6, Skull Cavern was a dungeon-style system of caves with standard chests, lots of enemies, and nothing too special besides an achievement to be gained. However, it was discovered that Update 1.6 added new loot chest sprites in Skull Cavern, with one on floor 100, two on floor 200, and three on floor 300. These special floors have no enemies and make for a valuable rest spot for those grinding to the bottom of Skull Cavern. While there is no guarantee that the chests will contain rare items, they do provide extra incentive for players working their way through the challenging caves.

Fans of Stardew Valley have been celebrating the Update 1.6 Skull Cavern change along with other helpful finds and fun discoveries. One player found a creepy new cutscene in Stardew Valley, and many have been taking the time to experience the 100+ new lines of dialogue when interacting with NPCs.
