Stardew Valley Player Makes Huge Mistake After Building 137 Casks
Following the release of Update 1.6 for Stardew Valley, a number of new players have jumped into the indie title, including one unfortunate player who learned a hard lesson about their 137 casks needing to be placed in a cellar to be usable. While there are a number of helpful guides for Stardew Valley, fans often find themselves running into common issues spurred on by poor planning.
Since its initial release back in 2016, Stardew Valley has become a staple of the life-sim genre, with many praising it as one of the best indie games of all time. The game allows players to enjoy a variety of gameplay mechanics while trying to build up their in-game farm and boost profits. However, some players may find themselves being a bit too ambitious in their strategies, resulting in tough lessons being learned.
Stardew Valley player Oasis_951 made the mistake of crafting 137 casks before realizing that they need to be placed in a cellar, not just a shed, to be usable. Casks in Stardew Valley can be utilized in the cellar of the farm house for aging juices and wines, increasing their quality and sale value. Before using the casks, players need to use kegs to convert hops, berries, vegetables and more into liquids. While the kegs can be placed anywhere on the farm, the casks can only be placed in a cellar. Unfortunately for Oasis_951, they were unaware of this key detail and crafted 137 casks to place in a newly built shed, only for them to learn that the casks were completely useless without a cellar to put them in.
Fellow members of the Stardew Valley community offered their sympathies, with many sharing their own stories of making the exact same mistake. Users offered a variety of potential solutions, including mods for the PC version of the game that allow casks to be placed anywhere on the map and the possibility of using an extra controller to run a local co-op mode and upgrade the shed to get a cellar added on.
