The game was developed by Square Glade Studios, a small indie studio run by only two developers. Outbound, the studio's latest project, is a cozy survival game based in a colorful open world where players live out of their van.
Outbound is an open-world survival crafting game where players explore in a van that serves as a movable base. The game is one of many survival games where crafting is key, as the van can be customized with module equipment and decorative pieces, allowing it to be powered by the environment with solar, wind, or water power. Players can also harvest and grow crops, construct workspaces and tools, and automate crafting by upgrading their skills. While base-building is a major piece of Outbound’s gameplay, the van base is also movable, lending an increased freedom to the exploration of the open world.
