Stardew Valley 1.6 Update's Best Feature Just Got A Lot Better

The 1.6 Update for may have improved the game more than anyone ever expected but one of the most lauded features just got even better thanks to an excellent new mod. Gifting the NPCs of Pelican Town with their favorite items is one of the key aspects of the farming RPG as players are encouraged to really learn what the characters like and dislike. Previously, it always felt a little hollow since giving a gift was always met with a handful of repeated responses but fortunately, that's no longer the case.

Over on Nexus Mods, user PrincessFelicie shared their «Unique Gift Dialogues Expanded» mod which does what it says on the tin by adding in addition 90+ responses for NPCs to use whenever the player gives them a present. The mod was created because most of the new reactions are only to rare items added in the 1.6 Update or exclusive to romanceable characters. PrincessFelicie notes that their Dialogues Expanded add-on serves as a starting point as they intend to grow it even further, requesting that anyone who downloads it politely offer them feedback.

Arguably the most expansive update has ever received, the 1.6 Patch included a wealth of features to make the game's world and characters feel more grounded and interactive. A large part of this was achieved through more dialogue which can be triggered in several ways. The most common method is gift-giving as NPCs now react differently to being given items that they love or hate, commenting on the specifics of the gift.

Aside from this, NPCs are now more reactionary to events that occur in the world as they discuss things that have happened around Pelican Town, making them feel like actual residents rather than robots who just go about a routine. Despite this, some players have noted that they don't believe the feature is deep enough given that certain characters like Clint and George still have a very limited amount of unique responses to gifts.
