Square Enix is planning to improve Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s visuals

Square Enix has said it’s planning to address Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth visual issues with an update next week.

Following the release of a Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo last week, players have reported encountering issues when playing in performance mode.

“The update to the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo scheduled for February 21st will apply improvements to the visual quality when selecting ‘Performance Mode’ from the graphics options,” Square Enix said today.

“The same improvements will also be applied to the full game.”

The game’s performance mode is designed to let players maintain a 60 frames per second frame rate, while graphics mode lets players prioritise 4K resolution.

Ahead of the game’s release at the end of this month, the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo lets players take control of protagonist Cloud, as well as primary antagonist Sephiroth as part of an extended flashback section.

Square Enix said last week that the demo would be updated this month to let players explore part of the Junon region too, which is presumably when the planned visual improvements will be introduced.

The second game in the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy will be released for PS5 on February 29, 2024, on two discs, and will be exclusive to Sony’s console for a minimum of three months.
