Splatoon 3 March 2024 Splatfest Revealed

Nintendo has announced Splatoon 3's next Splatfest, which begins on March 22. Splatoon 3's March event will have a rock 'n roll, instrument-based theme and will allow teams to battle it out for the lion's share of Super Sea Snails.

This marks Splatoon 3's fourteenth Splatfest for the Americas region since the game released. Splatfests are limited-time events that allow users to pick from three teams and compete in Turf Wars to earn their team points. All Splatfest participants are gifted with Super Sea Snails upon the event's completion, but the winning team is given an extra amount. Splatoon 3's last Splatfest occurred earlier in February and featured a favorite-day-of-the-weekend theme. The next event's theme is similarly relatable for most users.

Splatoon 3's next Splatfest asks users, «Which instrument would you play?» with the options being drums, guitar, and keyboard. A user's answer dictates which team they are placed on. The event runs from March 22 at 5 pm PT to March 24 at 5 pm PT. This is the theme for the Americas region, but the Japanese region's event asks a significantly different question. Its next Splatfest asks, «What do you think of potato chips?» and gives users three flavors to choose from. Nintendo is also releasing special edition shirts themed around the game's chip-themed event in the region, but it's not clear whether other regions will get a similar treatment.

Splatoon 3's significant popularity in Japan is highlighted by the contrast in views between the Japanese event's announcement and the American event's announcement on Twitter, with 1.2 million views against 272,000 views at the time of writing. However, the game is alive and well in many regions around the world, certainly including North America.

Splatoon 3's last update fell on February 21 and brought plenty of new additions to the game. Update 7.0.0 added support for the Side Order DLC and new ways to adjust gear. It also added content that will go live on March 1 when Fresh Season
