Spider-Man 2 leads the BAFTA Games Awards 2024 nominations list

The nominations for the BAFTA Games Awards 2024 have been announced.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 leads the pack, with nominations in nine separate categories.

Other big scorers are Alan Wake 2 (with nominations in eight categories), Baldur’s Gate 3 (eight) and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (seven).

All four games are nominated for the Best Game award, along with Dave the Diver and Super Mario Bros Wonder.

The 20th BAFTA Games Awards take place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank Centre, London on Thursday, April 11 and will be streamed live at 19.00 BST / 14.00 ET / 11.00 PT on BAFTA’s YouTube, Twitch and X channels.

This year, in a change from its usual process, the UK arts charity previously listed the 60 games that made up its longlist of nominees.

Games eligible for this year’s awards were released between December 10, 2022 and November 24, 2023.

BAFTA members started voting to decide the final nominations for the Best Game and British Game categories in January, while BAFTA juries voted in the other 15 categories.

Voting is now open for the EE Players’ Choice Award, the only award voted for by the public.
