Smite 2 Devs Tout Visual Effects, Accessibility In New Video

Though the finished version of Smite 2 will not be coming soon by any means, that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the fresh new look of the animations, Gods, and more as the devs do their deep dives.

Today, VFX Artist Shayne Feldman did a deep dive into the visual effects that will be coming with Smite 2, where we get to see a change that a lot of MOBA and RPG fans will surely like. When amidst teams and enemies, it can get a bit overwhelming to tell what targets and AOE areas are. But with Smite 2, players can change the color of their target to either match their aesthetic or make it much easier to tell where they’re dropping an attack.

This also helps for those who may be colorblind and need to change color variations to be able to enjoy the game as well.

More so, attacks will be seen in a whole new light, literally! Since Unreal Engine 5 has given the devs the ability to use GPU particles rather than CPU particles. This not only takes the stress off of one's CPU a bit and makes rendering much smoother, this also allows for thousands of particles to be used rather than just hundreds, meaning more visual effects and more stunning colors to follow.

Hecate’s fire will now illuminate surrounding areas as players traverse the battleground, giving more of a real feel to the environment. Chaac’s Axe and Lightning will also create light in the area, which again just makes the game feel more immersive and realistic while still keeping that true Smite effect we fans love.

Smite 2 won’t be releasing anytime soon, but we can all look forward to the closed alpha coming in the Spring of 2024.
