A Skyrim fan has crafted a real-life gift box that requires the ability to lockpick as players do in the game. There are many Skyrim skills for gamers to level up as they progress across the open world, but lockpicking has taken on a new form with this gift box.

As Skyrim players discover the open world outside of Helgen Keep, they may come across locked chests. These chests can be opened with enough Lockpicks and patience, with some being harder to unlock than others. When gamers reach the Riften Thieves Guild, they'll be given many opportunities to hone this ability, in addition to Stealth and Pickpocketing. Towards the tail end of the Skyrim Thieves Guild quests, the Skeleton Key can be acquired, making unlocking almost anything a breeze. One gamer has made a real-life gift box that opens similar to the locked chests and doors in the game.

Reddit user Mrspartacus575 recently shared a video highlighting their impressive Skyrim creation. The gift box resembles a chest with a massive keyhole in the middle that requires a matching lockpick and prybar to simulate the Lockpicking mini-game. While there are locks in Skyrim that require keys like most real-world locks, this mini-game becomes a frequent occurrence for anyone who plays the game enough. The video shows someone twisting the lockpick and prybar into different positions, eventually hitting the sweet spot that opens the chest to reveal a replica of the Skyrim Meridia's Beacon.

According to Mrspartacus575, the Bethesda-inspired gift box was 3D printed with a lock mechanism that shares the characteristics of the in-game ones. The lockpick cannot be adjusted without resetting the prybar, and they both have to be in the exact right position for the chest to open. While this box shares many similarities with the Skyrim Lockpicking mini-game, the gamer was unable to replicate the experience of breaking a Lockpick in a failed attempt to open it.
