Silent Hill 2 Remake Supports AMD FSR 3 Frame Generation, NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction Via Settings File Tweaks; New Mod Improves Cutscenes

Though they are not officially supported, both AMD FSR 3 frame generation and NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction can be easily enabled in the Silent Hill 2 remake by Bloober Team, which is now available in early access for those who pre-ordered the game's Deluxe Edition.

As reported by Deck Wizard, to enable AMD FSR 3 frame generation in the game, users need only add the r.FidelityFX.FI.Enabled=1 line under [SystemSettings] in the game's engine.ini file. While it shows some ghosting issues, frame generation can definitely make the game feel smoother, especially for those who are playing on an underpowered system or on Steam Deck.

Those with an RTX 4000 series card can also enable NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 Ray Reconstruction in the Silent Hill 2 remake using a similar method to enhance the quality of ray tracing. All that needs to be done is adding the following lines to the game's engine.ini file under [SystemSettings], as reported by Aren on X.

Further improvements to the game are provided by a new mod that enhances cutscenes by removing the black bars that display in any aspect ratio beyond 16:9 and the 30 FPS cap. This mod can be downloaded here.

Even in its vanilla state, the Silent Hill 2 remake is more than worthy of any fan's time. Bloober Team not only managed to remake the iconic original in the best possible way but also created its best game to date, as Chris highlighted in his review.

The Silent Hill 2 remake launches for everyone tomorrow, October 8th, on PC and PlayStation 5.
