Shroud's New Multiplayer Shooter Spectre Divide Enters Closed Beta

Mountaintop Studios recently unveiled Spectre Divide, a free to play 3v3 multiplayer tactical shooter with the unique ability to allow players to control two bodies in real time. Yes, this means players can do things like defend two sites simultaneously, cover their own cross, and more.

Each player has a spectre that they can switch between at will to make all manner of plays. Besides that, the game is fairly similar to shooters such as Counter Strike or VALORANT with its plant and defuse style of gameplay. The game even has a 1:1 sensitivity conversion with VALORANT so players of Riot’s popular shooter can jump in and feel right at home.

Spectre Divide is being developed by Mountaintop in collaboration with popular creator and former Counter-Strike and VALORANT pro, Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek.

The developer currently doesn’t have plans for esports but have made a commitment to supporting community run tournaments and events going forward.

Mountaintop is leveraging BattlEye and “other proprietary systems” to deal with those looking to ruin the game for others by cheating.

Spectre Divide’s first closed beta is now live and runs through August 21. Player can gain entry either via Twitch Drops or by requesting access on the game’s Steam page.

There’s no word on a release date for Spectre Divide just yet, but the game will be available for PC only when it does launch. Mountaintop has made a commitment to bringing the game to consoles (along with controller support) sometime after launch.
