Sand Land - Release Date, Story, Gameplay, Editions, & Pricing

is an upcoming RPG from the mind of Akira Toriyama, creator of and longtime character designer for the series. It's based on a 14-chapter manga originally released in 2000, but it's not the only upcoming adaptation: following a CGI film last year, there's also a streaming series scheduled for late 2024. The manga and film have all the hallmarks of Toriyama's work: singular character design, off-the-wall humor, and epic battles.

However, is decidedly distinct from and, in both its short and sweet nature and its gleefully cynical tone. Still, is a lot of fun, even if it comes with the occasional gut punch of difficult reality. It's cute and silly, but also poignant and memorable. It might be the best Toriyama game adaptation fans could hope for. Whatever it is, is coming soon.

The video game is scheduled for release worldwide on April 26, 2024 — although players in Japan will get access to it one day early. This is remarkably soon after its initial announcement at Summer Game Fest 2023, coming out less than a year after the initial reveal. It's already available for pre-order on all platforms, and via many major game retailers.

Thankfully, won't be a PS6 exclusive. At launch, will be available on multiple platforms, both current generation and previous: PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S versions have already been confirmed. While PlayStation users will be able to purchase regardless of whether they've upgraded to a PS5, there's no word on a release for Xbox One yet. The same goes for Switch players, although since eventually came to that platform, too, there's still hope.
