Sad Skyrim Chicken Leaves Player Feeling Guilty

A Skyrim player has stumbled upon an unusual situation in the massively popular RPG, leaving them with an unusual sense of guilt for killing an in-game NPC. The massive world of the beloved Bethesda RPG features a seemingly endless amount of content for players to explore, both throughout its many towns and across the game's vast wilderness. Skyrim has no shortage of side quests for players to tackle for the many NPCs, often leading to larger overarching stories within the wintry region. One player's in-game actions, however, have left them feeling unusually guilty about killing an NPC.

Within the many villages found throughout Skyrim, there is an abundance of NPCs from all walks of life for players to interact with. Each city boasts its own Jarl as its leader, with several important NPCs working alongside the Jarl to maintain the city. Players can also interact with the many residents of the cities, ranging from the game's shopkeepers and their families to simple residents going about their daily lives in the world. Now, one player's interactions with an NPC had an unexpected result that has left them racked with guilt.

Reddit user troysplay shared their unusual situation to the Skyrim subreddit, following the user killing an in-game NPC. Within the title of the post, the player details that they had killed an in-game NPC, showing the corpse and one of Skyrim's chickens sitting next to it. According to the user, after killing the NPC, the chicken simply sat staring at its owner for several minutes. The chicken's implied remorse left the player feeling their own sense of guilt, saying that they had «never felt guiltier» after killing one of Skyrim's many characters.
