Rumor: New Star Fox Game Could Be In Development For Switch 2

According to a new rumor, Nintendo might be working on a new Star Fox game for its eventual Switch follow-up console. The Star Fox series stretches back to the days of the Super NES, where the first entry wowed players with cutting-edge-for-the-time polygonal graphics and blistering space-shooter gameplay. Since then, multiple Star Fox sequels have been released on various Nintendo systems, and characters like Fox McCloud and Falco Lombardi have become mainstays in Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros crossover series. However, there hasn’t been a new Star Fox game released since 2016’s Star Fox Zero for the Wii U, which was met with mixed reviews from fans and critics alike.

Indeed, the closest thing fans have gotten to a new Star Fox release in the last seven years was Star Fox 2 (the finished but ultimately unsold sequel to the original Star Fox) as part of the Super NES Classic Edition bundle in 2017. Said rumor comes from leaker Zippo, who has made some accurate predictions but does not have a perfect track record. According to their latest claim, this new Star Fox title will supposedly launch sometime in the next 12 months. It is being developed internally at Nintendo, a first for the series since 1997’s Star Fox 64. Zippo also says that this will be a sequel to a previous Star Fox game rather than a reboot, and that online multiplayer will be a large part of its promotion.

While Zippo says that this alleged Star Fox game will come to the rumored
