Rumor: Dragon’s Dogma 2 Could Be Getting a Demo Soon

A demo of the highly-anticipated Capcom RPG Dragon's Dogma 2 could be on the way, according to data discovered within a recent Steam update. Capcom shocked the gaming world in 2022 when it announced the beloved Dragon's Dogma will be receiving a sequel, coming more than 10 years after the original game's launch. The cult-classic RPG had been heavily requested to see a comeback from fans, receiving praise for its combat system and unique «Pawns» mechanic. Now, fans could be getting a chance to try out the sequel soon.

With Dragon's Dogma 2's launch just over a month away, Capcom has given fans plenty of reason to be excited about the franchise's return. Dragon's Dogma 2 is set to introduce multiple «Vocation» classes, including Mystic Spearhand and Trickster as two brand-new additions. Capcom also confirmed a number of quality-of-life features that will be present within the Dragon's Dogma sequel, including an uncapped frame rate and free online play on PlayStation consoles. Now, new updates to Steam could suggest a demo is on the way.

As reported by Eurogamer, a new update to Steam's backend could potentially be teasing the release of a Dragon's Dogma 2 demo to come. Dragon's Dogma 2's Steam data recently received an update with an app listed as «free on demand» connected to the game's page, with the terminology typically used to refer to demos. Capcom similarly released a demo for the original Dragon's Dogma preceding its 2012 release, with fans speculating the sequel could do the same. Dragon's Dogma 2 is currently scheduled to release on March 22.

A demo for Dragon's Dogma 2 could give fans their first chance to try out some of the game's new classes, as well as other updates made in the sequel. Capcom has heavily shown off Dragon's Dogma 2's new «Trickster» Vocation, with a focus on deceiving enemies and creating illusions using the game's destructible environments. Dragon's Dogma 2's story has also been teased ahead of its release, taking place in an alternate
