Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil 7, Now Require An Active Online Connection If You Want To Play The Games On Your iOS Devices

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max took mobile gaming to the next echelon when it was announced that AAA titles from Capcom, such as Resident Evil 4 Remake, Resident Evil 7, and Resident Evil Village, would be ported to iOS. The fact that games tailor-made for powerful PCs and consoles could run natively on pocketable devices was a massive deal, and it made the experience all the more enjoyable when you were sitting on a long flight or doing your commute rounds.

Unfortunately, Capcom has put up a limitation for iOS handset owners as they can no longer fire up these games without having an online connection. We will be thoroughly surprised if this will not have an adverse impact on sales.

Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil 7 sales for iOS devices were already abysmal, but Capcom’s latest move could remove any hope from the equation

The iOSGaming subreddit revealed the news, with member Hall_Such posting the screenshot below, revealing that Capcom has placed a limitation that reads, ‘Due to changes to the startup process, an internet connection is now required when starting this app.’ Capcom has yet to provide a reason for this move, but it is unsurprising to view the livid responses from the other Redditors. After all, these limitations are not present in Steam or Epic Games, where you can run games in offline mode.

Resident Evil 7 was already a failed launch on iOS, as a previous estimate revealed that the game did not even cross $30,000 in sales, which is a shame because our review had solid praises for the game, as Capcom scrapped the action aspect present in previous titles and went straight to the roots of survival horror.
