"Here We Go Again" Resident Evil Fans Get Some Bad News About A Code Veronica Remake, But There's A Silver Lining

As eager as the community is for Capcom to remake, one of the franchise's most underrated games,the rumored project could be much smaller than expected. With Capcom's recent trend of taking older games and giving them a fresh coat of paint and modern mechanics, the question of 's future is often discussed amongst fans. It may not have had the impact of the original game nor have the dedicated following of , but it's still a vital part of the canon that shouldn't be forgotten.

Over on Reddit, user Anthrax-Warhead shared a post originally published by reputable Capcom insider and leaker Dusk Golem alleging that the much-rumored remake will be smaller than the likes of .

The studio supposedly doesn't intend for to be as "" so fans hoping for a reimagining on that scale may need to temper their expectations for the project. Whether or not that will be the case remains to be seen but Dusk Golem has a decent track record when it comes to Capcom's upcoming releases.

While the supposed remake may be smaller than some hoped, the very fact that it's allegedly happening at all is a silver lining. The community has long requested that the game be resurrected in much the same way as was in 2019. While the remake of was almost universally loved, many felt that Capcom skipped over, which was the next canon game due for an update, because it believed it would be less successful.

While it's true that has a massive following behind it, is an important part of the series' lore. Set three months after the fall of Raccoon City, the game finally reunites Chris and Claire Redfield as the duo are pulled into another one of Albert Wesker's sinister plans. Borrowing heavily from the original trilogy, the gameplay was archaic even by 2000's standards, meaning a remake would go a long way to improving the experience.

If one character dies in Resident Evil 9, his death would be a significant event in Resident Evil lore, requiring careful handling by Capcom's team.
