PS5 Pro Release Date, Price, Specs, & Preorder Details

The long-rumored PlayStation 5 Pro has finally been revealed in a technical presentation by lead designer Mark Cerny. It's typical for Sony, about halfway through a console's life cycle, to release a more powerful or compact version of its current console — think the PS2 Slim, the PS3 Super Slim, or more recently, the PS4 Pro. These updated consoles may offer better visuals, improved performance, exclusive games, or a combination of the three, potentially boosting console sales during a midlife decline.

The PS5 Pro is the latest console in that tradition. With improved specifications over the original PS5 models, and a handful of games soon to receive PS5 Pro Enhanced versions, longtime PlayStation users can expect exactly the kind of upgrades they're used to from Sony's mid-generational console revamps. Here's everything to expect from the PS5 Pro when it comes out later this year.

The PS5 Pro will be released on November 7, 2024, and will be available from both the usual brick-and-mortar retailers and online shopping outlets. Players can purchase it on that day directly from Sony, or from the third-party retailer of their choice.

After months of speculation and leaks, the PlayStation 5 Pro has finally been revealed in a technical presentation.

The PS5 Pro will cost $700 USD at launch, compared to the base model's $500. Unlike the original PS5, it'll only launch in a single version — a digital-only edition that does not have a disk drive. Players can, however, purchase an external disk drive for an additional $79.99.

The PS5 Pro has most of the same internal components as the base model PS5, with a few upgrades to certain features. The table below contains all the specs for the PS5 Pro as announced, alongside those of the launch model PS5 for comparison.
