PS Plus Subscribers Will Want To Keep An Eye On May 29

In the age of gaming subscription services, PlayStation Plus continues to become a more enticing offer from Sony. The celebrated success of Xbox Game Pass likely had an influence on PS Plus adopting its Extra and Premium tiers, which provide subscribers access to a rotating, but consistently growing, catalog of games downloadable on demand. All PlayStation Plus subscribers, though – even those on the base Essential tier – will want to keep May 29 marked in their calendars.

Despite the benefits PS Plus can offer to enthusiasts, the service is unfortunately compulsory for anyone hoping to play online multiplayer games. The silver lining is that every subscription tier is entitled to three free (or rather, at no additional cost) games every month, playable as long as the subscription is active. Before Xbox Live Gold became Game Pass Core, the Games with Gold initiative offered essentially the same thing on the other side of the aisle. PlayStation Plus' monthly games have remained consistently compelling, however, unlike Games with Gold's notoriously uninteresting offers before it was discontinued.

May 2024 is bringing a new lineup of games to PlayStation Plus, and there's definitely some exciting action-packed additions this time around.

Barring any changes to the usual schedule, June's monthly PlayStation Plus games will be revealed on May 29, with said titles then becoming available to download six days later on June 4. Announcements typically come via on the last Wednesday of each month, with the games becoming free for PS Plus subscribers roughly a week later, the following Tuesday. Unforeseen circumstances could always change this, however.

Games added to a player's library through PS Plus will remain there, even if the subscription lapses. While a subscription is required to play PS Plus games, that subscription is not required to be contiguous in order to keep games acquired through the service.
