Pokémon Lazy Summer merch collection designed by veteran artist announced

The Pokémon Company today unveiled the new Pokémon Lazy Summer collection.

Available starting today at Pokémon Center in the U.S., Canada and the U.K, the line includes hats, t-shirts, and more.

The line has been designed in collaboration with James Turner, who designed a number of Pokémon for the franchise and has contributed to various Pokémon video games since 2002.

“I like to draw ‘feel-good’ artwork — illustrations that bring a smile to your face or make you feel happy when you look at them,” Turner said.

“With this artwork, I hope that the sunny summer setting and the depiction of Pokémon relaxing conveys that kind of feeling. I also enjoy retro artwork and added retro-inspired elements to the artwork, such as the tropical poolside scenes, the surfing Pikachu illustration, and the dancing Ditto with boombox illustration.”

Turner is known for designing dozens of Pokemon such as Obstagoon, Vanillite, Golett, and Phantump.

Outside of the Pokémon Lazy Summer collection, The Pokemon Company has also teased future releases to the Pokémon Tropical apparel line, including “fresh designs for shirts, tanks, shorts, and bucket hats featuring popular Pokémon like Charizard and Snorlax.”

Earlier this week The Pokémon Company announced another new subsidiary,Pokémon Card D Studio LTD.

As spotted by  Serebii, the studio is a renaming of DeNA Digital Production Co, which will now focus on the upcoming Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket.

This is the second new subsidiary formed this year, following the establishment of Pokemon Works in March.
