Apparently, players can now evolve their Pokemon directly from the Buddy screen in Pokemon GO. The button can be located right after the activities and walking progress section. Players will also be able to mega-evolve their Pokemon directly from this screen. While this prevents the hassle of players having to go to their storage to evolve their Pokemon, fans have mixed opinions about this feature.

Several fans highlighted that this feature was quite uncalled for, as it doesn't add much utility. The major concern emphasized by fans is the fact that it is much easier to accidentally click the evolve button, considering the fact that it is placed right above the Swap Buddies option. There are several instances where players would want to keep a Pokemon as their buddy and not evolve it in Pokemon GO, such as their GO Battle League buddies, so this newly added option paves the way for unintentional evolutions.
