Pokemon Fan Designs Incredible Net Ball Alternatives

There's a variety of useful and unique Poke Balls available throughout the Pokemon games, and one creative fan of the series has shared their own set of Poke Ball concepts complete with their own designs and functions to aid players in catching certain types of Pokemon. Though these designs may be fanmade, they take inspiration from items such as the existing Net Balls and Dive Balls, which provide boosted catch rates for specific creatures encountered throughout the world of Pokemon.

The iconic Poke Ball design is one well-known by gamers and non-gamers alike, and while most are familiar with the standard Poke Ball and its ability to capture and contain Pokemon, those who are new to the Pokemon franchise may not be aware of the dozens of other Poke Ball variants and their purposes. Across the many generations of Pokemon games, players can purchase more expensive items such as Great Balls and Ultra Balls, which sport different designs and offer greater odds of successfully catching a Pokemon. Beyond those, there are plenty of more specific Poke Balls, such as Dive Balls, which are better at catching aquatic Pokemon, or Heavy Balls, which are better at catching heavy Pokemon.

One creative player known online as sdrey believes there's room for more unique Poke Ball types, however, and has shared some of their own custom designs. They have created a total of eight new Poke Ball variants each with their own designs and colors, with the existing Net Ball likely providing the main source of inspiration for these items. Like the Net Ball, a Poke Ball that grants greater catch rates for Bug or Water-type Pokemon only, each of these custom Poke Balls excels at catching Pokemon of specific types. The designs include the Magnet Ball, Thorn Ball, Cage Ball, Drought Ball, Combat Ball, Chilling Ball, Crystal Ball, and Tale Ball, which are each themed around the many types in Pokemon.

This isn't the first time that Pokemon fans have come up with their own Poke Ball designs, either.
