Pokemon Fan Designs Impressive Porygon-Z Animated Card

A Pokemon fan has animated a rare Porygon-Z card with an impressive result to show for it. The base design is already well-liked, so many Pokemon fans seem delighted to see an animated version of it.

Porygon-Z is the final evolution of the notorious Porygon, which saw its evolutions added to the title in Gen 2 and Gen 4. While the Pokemon has received attention in the games over the years, it's been sadly neglected in the Pokemon anime following the use of a flashing strobe effect way back in episode 38 of the original season that triggered seizures in epileptic viewers. Ironically, Porygon wasn't the Pokemon that caused this effect, as it was due to an attack by Pikachu. However, the Pokemon hasn't been seen in the mainline anime since, and its evolutions have never made the anime outside of a brief intro cameo.

While the anime has some problems with Porygon, the card game is a safe place for it to shine. Reddit user ace_pade took the opportunity to highlight the Full Art illustration rare card that launched in the Paradox Rift Pokemon TCG expansion by creating an animation for it. The original card, illustrated by GOSSAN, features Porygon-Z hovering over a gaming PC setup, with a gamer chair, RGB lighting, and neon Pokemon signs hanging in the background.

The animated version of the card by ace_pade shows the Porygon-Z contentedly floating above the PC with a shine effect that moves over the surface of the card. The Pikachu neon sign in the background also flickers for a moment. However, the real shining moment of the animation comes a moment later, where Porygon-Z abruptly shakes back and forth, visibly glitching out. The manmade Pokemon is notorious for being glitchy to the point that Porygon-Z even twitches during its sleep animation. Ace_pade noted that they spent a lot of time studying how Porygon-Z glitches out in order to properly recreate the movement in their animation.
